Privacy Policy

Last updated: 18 August 2026

Real Ruler is built to need as little of your data as possible. This Privacy Policy describes exactly how data is handled when you use the Real Ruler mobile application (the "App") on iOS and Android devices, including the one place where information does leave your device: advertising.

Measuring Happens Entirely On Your Device
We do not collect, transmit, store, or share your measurements or calibration settings. Every measurement happens on your device and stays there. The one exception is advertising: the app shows a banner ad, and our advertising partner receives limited device information, which is described in section 2.

1. Information We Collect

We do not collect any personally identifiable information. We do not ask for or receive your name, email address, precise location, phone number, device contacts, or files. The only data leaving your device is the advertising information described in section 2, which goes to Google rather than to us.

Any adjustments, screen pixel configurations (PPI), active measuring edges, or unit preferences (cm, inches, pixels) that you make inside the App are stored securely and locally on your device via AsyncStorage and are never transmitted to any external servers.

2. Third-Party Services & Advertising

To keep this application free of cost, we integrate Google AdMob (Google Mobile Ads SDK) to display banner advertisements at the bottom of the screen.

Google AdMob may collect and use certain device and advertising information, including:

  • Device advertising identifiers (e.g., IDFA on iOS or Google Advertising ID on Android).
  • Basic device characteristics (manufacturer, model, operating system version).
  • IP addresses (used strictly for geolocation coarse targeting and security/fraud prevention).

What Google receives depends on the tracking choice you make on iOS, described in section 3. If you do not allow tracking, the App requests non-personalized ads only and Google is not given your advertising identifier for ad targeting. If you do allow tracking, the App requests personalized ads and Google may use your advertising identifier to select them.

Google's handling of this data is governed by their own policies. You can read them at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.

3. App Tracking Transparency (iOS)

On iOS, the first time you open the App you will be asked whether Real Ruler may track you across apps and websites. This is Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt, and it appears before the advertising SDK starts.

Choosing Ask App Not to Track means the App requests non-personalized ads and your advertising identifier is not used to target them. Choosing Allow means the App requests personalized ads. Either choice gives you the full App, with every feature available. You can change your answer at any time in iOS Settings, under Privacy & Security, then Tracking.

4. Your Advertising Consent Choices

If you are in a region with applicable privacy regulation — the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, or a regulated US state — a consent form provided by Google's User Messaging Platform is shown before any advertising is requested. It lets you choose what advertising data may be used. Until you have made a choice, no ad is requested at all.

You can change that choice at any time. Open the How to Use guide inside the App and tap Ad privacy settings to reopen the consent form. If you are outside those regions, no consent form is shown and this button does not appear.

5. Permissions

The App operates with minimal permissions. It does NOT request access to your device camera, photo gallery, location coordinates, network contacts, or local file system. It only uses local storage capabilities to persist your ruler calibration.

6. Children's Privacy

We do not knowingly collect or solicit personal information from children under the age of 13, and the App asks for none. Because the App shows advertising, we serve non-personalized ads to anyone who has not allowed tracking, which is the default. If you believe a child has provided information through the advertising described above, contact us and we will help you raise it with our advertising partner.

7. Compliance and Contact

We are committed to maintaining the highest level of trust and security. If you have any questions or feedback regarding our privacy practices, please contact us at:
